Product description
Laphroaig Select contains portions of all known Laphroaig bottlings (10 years, PX Cask, Quarter Cask and Triple Wood). The combination of the different casks and bottlings creates a harmonious balance between peat smoke, vanilla, honey and slightly earthy flavours.
Ian Hunter, the last of the founding family, visited the bourbon distilleries in Kentucky some 70 years ago to learn their maturation techniques. Until then, all the casks had come from Europe, resulting in a much sweeter Laphroaig. Hunter had a selection of ex-bourbon casks shipped to Scotland so that he could try them out on his whisky. This is the beginning of Laphroaig as we know it.

Laphroaig (pronounced 'La-froig') means 'the beautiful hollow by a broad bay' in Gaelic. The area around the distillery, which is located on the remote island of Islay (pronounced 'Ei-la') off the west coast of Scotland, is just as beautiful. Laphroaig Whiskies are considered the most smoky-intense malt Whiskies from Scotland. read more

Kommentar: Sie lieben Laphroaig? Kaufen! Steht dem 10-year in kaum etwas nach und ist dazu noch enorm preiswert. Warum der ungefärbt ist und so gut wie alle anderen Laphroaig die sinnlose Farbe haben? Karamell gehört in Bonbons, nicht in Malt.
