Torabhaig ist nach 190 Jahren die erste neue Brennerei auf der Isle of Skye, die Single Malts produziert. Für die Brennereigebäude baute der unabhängige Abfüller Mossburn Distillers ein altes Farmhaus wieder auf. Die Steine wurden damals um etwa 1820 genutzt um das bestehende bäuerliche Anwesen in ein Gehöft zu erweitern. Die zweite Abfüllung der Legacy Series, Allt Gleann, wurde zwischen 2017 und 2018 destilliert und in Fässer gefüllt und besteht aus nicht mehr als 30 Fässern.

Finish:
Comment: The colour is a straw-yellow similar to white wine. Upon nosing, it presents fresh and youthful notes with light peat smoke, citrus, herbaceous and floral hints, green apple, menthol, seawater, rubber, and a touch of solvent. Additional nuances become apparent after some time in the glass.
The palate is quite thin and watery, offering hints of peat, brine, oak, pepper, and little else.
The finish is medium-short, with subtle light smoke, brine, and some oak bitterness.
Overall, this Torabhaig did not impress me much. In my opinion it is inferior to other offerings from new distilleries, as it is too young, weak, lacking depth and complexity, and the price does not seem favourable. While I hope that Allt Gleann will improve in the future, I might consider giving it a second chance when older expressions become available in a few years.
